Registration for the Indy Half Marathon at Fort Ben is now open. The event, scheduled for Saturday, October 6, takes place in Fort Harrison State Park and features a half marathon, 5K and Kids One Mile. As part of the opening special, participants can register for discounted prices of $50 for the half marathon and $20 for the 5K through midnight on March 2. The scenic, USATF certified courses remain a highlight for many participants. The event celebrates the fall running season and features a free post-race cookout for participants.
Runners and walkers who want an additional challenge can complete an INDYTHON – achieved by completing a half marathon or 5K at the Indy Half at Fort Ben, and a marathon, half marathon or 5K at the CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon on November 3. INDYTHON’ers receive an additional medal for their efforts.
“INDYTHON allows participants to complete two major fall running events in Indianapolis,” said Jed Cornforth, executive director of Beyond Monumental, “We believe that everyone who finishes a 5K or half marathon is remarkable – but for some of our incredible runners and walkers, we have to raise the bar even higher.”
The 2017 Indy Half Marathon at Fort Ben saw growth over previous years with over 3,000 registered participants. As part of a three-year partnership with USATF Indiana, the half marathon will host the USATF Indiana Half Marathon Championships, making the event a destination for regional elite open and masters athletes. Prize money will be awarded to the top three open athletes and the top three masters athletes (based on age-graded performances). 2017 Champions were Anna Weber (1:19:26) and Jesse Davies (1:11:35).
Registration is available online.
